Taiwan’s culture is a blend of various cultures such as the dominant Han Chinese, Confucianist, and Taoist culture. Although Taiwan people share the same Chinese traditional festivals with the people in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan has its difference of regions, historical background, and characteristic feast days like Restoration Day and Goddess Mazu’s Birthday. The maintenance of the Chinese culture is evident in their present usage of the Chinese writing system, as well as the perseverance of Chinese festivals such as the well-known Chinese New Year, and the Lantern, Mid-Autumn, Dragon Boat, and Zhongyuan Festivals.
