Philippines’ traditional festivals are religious in origin and typically involve processions, or fiestas, with the religious festivities centered on Catholicism. They are celebrated all year round throughout the Philippines, and they keep the traditions in place throughout the generations with street dancing and colorful parades. However, nowadays the religious component is usually secondary to the general spirit of the celebrations, and a popular festival within the religious category is the Sinulog Festival and the Higantes Festival. Other well-known festivals to the Philippines, which do not consist of religious elements, include the Masskara Festival and the Panagbenga Festival.
