Indonesian Festivals mainly include ceremonies, regional, national, and religious festivals, with the most important festivals being religious in character. These festivals are celebrated by Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians, but are not necessarily celebrated by all Indonesians. Some of the biggest and most important festivals celebrated include the Waisak Day, Galungan, Ramadan, Id al-Fitr, Easter, and Christmas. Ceremonies also play an important role in Indonesian festivals because during certain times of a celebration there may be some rituals, which need to be done before the festival can begin, such as the Nyepi Festival.
